The VanGuard 2 is a minimalist IWB holster. Unlike traditional IWB holsters, the VG2 covers only the trigger guard of your weapon. This unique design eliminates the bulk of a traditional holster, while providing a level of safety and security not attainable by simply sticking a pistol in the waistband of your pants.
The VanGuard 2 can be used multiple ways:
First, it can be used (without the lanyard or the strut and soft-loop assembly) as a trigger guard cover for storage and transportation safety. This prevents foreign objects from finding their way inside the trigger guard and potentially pressing the trigger, while still allowing the slide to be cycled and the magazine released. This gives users the ability to clear the weapon without the danger of a negligent discharge.
Next, it can be used with the static-line tether for on-body (IWB) or off-body carry (such as inside a bag, purse, briefcase, vehicle console, etc). This allows the weapon to be safely carried with a chambered round without fear of a negligent discharge, while still being rapidly deployable. The holster can also be removed by catching the nose of the holster and prying it off. This allows one-hand deployment of the weapon even if the tether or attachment point fails to remove the holster.
Finally, the user can attach the strut and soft-loop assembly to create a stable, secure, IWB holster. The complete system is fully adjustable for ride-height and cant, is tuckable for maximum concealment, and fully ambidextrous. Please be aware, we do not advise attempting to re-holster the weapon while the VG2 is inside your clothing. You should remove the VG2 and install it on the weapon outside of your waistband.

I have the same unit for my glock. The retainment system is not as snug on my M&P. Not likely to use this product

As usual, Raven doesn't disappoint. I was looking around for a minimalist IWB holster. This obviously fits the bill. It holds the weapon secure while ease of access is top notch. Raven Concealment has always been impressive.

This is my third vanguard holster the other two are for my Glocks one for the 42 and one for the 19. Bought this to carry my M&P 2.0 in 45. Is much looser than my Glock style vanguard and the gun pretty much just falls out if you pick it up by the holster only. This could be due to it being the 2.0 M&P as my regular 9mm M&P pistol has slightly more retention but still nowhere near as secure as the glock versions I already owned.

The slim, comfortable, minimalist Vanguard holster has solved all my carry needs and is the most discreet holster I have used on my thin frame. Overall great product, and company that supports its country, military, and law enforcement.

This holster is a great addition to my holster collection. This is a no frills, just grab your gun and go type holster. It allows you the comfort of waistband carry with the added stability and saftey of the trigger guard and belt loop system. It way more comfortable than a IWB pancake holster. I usually use this as my dedicated summer holster since it's lightweight and allows for summer activities to be done without contsantly readjusting. Good buy for sure. Just remember if you are running a light this is not going to work.

I've been working and training in the firearms industry now for close to 20 years. I must have no less than 50 holsters from every maker, model and design out there. Duty and tactical holsters are one thing. But if you think about it, unless you work in Law Inforcement you carry as a everyday civilian. I can't conceal 99% on my holsters. And my IWB holsters have their limitation. This VanGaurd holster is now my EDC holster. I've worn it now for 2 week straight and it's fantastic.

Took a chance and surprise it works as advertised, I had a clip on the Glock gun stays up and doesn't rotate. Wish they had this for other brands.

Bought this for a friend who doesn't like wearing full holsters while carrying concealed. Now this is his preferred method of carry. Like all products I've seen from Raven Concealment, this is exceptionally well designed and well made. It works with a variety of carry positions, and is snug enough to be secure without sacrificing draw speed. Highly recommend for those looking for a versatile minimalist approach.

On the recommendation from a friend of mine in Law Enforcement, I ordered a VG-2 in wolf gray to give it a try. The VG-2 is the only holster he uses while carrying off-duty. I have been very happy with my existing Zero-bulk holster, but always willing to try something new to see if it is an improvement.
Customer Service: It was shipped the day after I ordered and arrived 3 days later. The communication from the company is clear and concise, but does not blow up your e-mail. I consider their CS to be excellent and that tracks with the other ratings.
Price: The price is a little on the high side when compared to other low profile, zero-bulk holsters. With tax/shipping tacked on, it is more than double the one I had been using. That was part of the reason I did not rate 5 stars. You will have to judge if the price to value is fair.
Product: The product is very good. I like the fact that it is US made. The retention is surprisingly good, more so that I would have expected based on pictures or comments, I have no concern that my weapon will come out of the holster inadvertently. The instructions are clear, if not a little verbose (anything that has to do with firearms has to be). The snap is a pain in the A--. I hope it will become easier in time and that the snap will break in before the rubber strap breaks. That is an existing concern and the other part of the reason for my rating of 4 stars. I read the instructions regarding the "Pull the Dot" snap, however, when the holster is on your belt there is not a lot of grip area to unsnap with the "pull the dot" method. The instructions say it will take a while to break in so I am giving it the benefit of the doubt.
One small advantage that my other zero-bulk "holster" has over the VG-2, is that I don't necessarily have to wear a belt. If I am wearing athletic shorts, the VG-2 is not stable enough to use This is not a huge concern and I am not knocking the VG-2 for this, it was designed to be used with a belt which is how I carry anyways, 95% of the time.
Bottom Line: I like it. It is very comfortable and more secure than I had expected. It is made in the USA and the customer service is excellent.
